A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit near Ackerly, Texas, felt as far as Dallas-Fort Worth with no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

DALLAS — An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 struck near Ackerly Monday evening, briefly rattling parts of the Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake hit the small community about one hour north of Midland, Texas, around 7:45 p.m.

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake rattled West Texas Monday; the quake’s epicenter was registered about 21.1 miles west southwest of Ackerly, or 27.6 miles north of Midland, according to the United States Geographical Study.
