Now, the Rams have a core build of players on their rookie deals -- defensive linemen Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske, outside linebackers Byron Young and Jared Verse and safety Quentin Lake -- for a unit that took a big step forward this season under new defensive coordinator Chris Shula.

The Rams naturally want to get clarity on quarterback Matthew Stafford’s status sooner rather than later. Although it is not yet a sure thing, it sounds as if the soon-to-be 37-year-old passer is prepared to continue his playing career.

In his end-of-season press conference, Rams GM Les Snead addressed the status of both QB Matthew Stafford and WR Cooper Kupp, two of the bigger questions facing the team this offseason.  Both have uncertain futures in Los Angeles.

Sean McVay wants to avoid what happened last offseason when the Los Angeles Rams spent months in limbo awaiting clarity from Matthew Stafford. After reaching the playoffs and beating the Minnesota Vikings in the wild-card round,

Stafford was traded to the Rams from the Lions in January 2021 in what was a franchise-altering move for both teams, with Detroit landing quarterback Jared Goff in the swap. The Rams went on to win the Super Bowl in Stafford’s first season out West.
