With polls showing many voters are dissatisfied with both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, Democratic and Republican operatives acted Monday to try to remove third-party and independent presidential candidates from Illinois’ Nov.

The group is challenging 66,487 of the 85,509 signatures submitted by the Kennedy campaign, alleging some signers were ineligible and necessary petition fields were incorrect or incomplete “due to likely fraud and forgery.

If the election board confirms the validity of the papers, Illinois would become the ninth confirmed state that the independent has made it on the ballot.
