Jens van ’t Wout of the Netherlands has won his second gold medal in short track speedskating at the Milan Cortina Olympics.

Stolz made history not once, but twice, in Milan.

Stolz, a 21-year-old Wisconsin native, recorded a time of 33.77 seconds. Jenning de Boo (33.88) from the Netherlands took home the silver while Laurent Dubreuil (34.26) claimed bronze. It’s the second straight gold medal and Olympic record for Stolz. He did both in the 1,000-meter competition, when he recorded a time of 1:06.28.

Jutta Leerdam delivered one of the greatest performances in Olympic speed skating history on Monday with her record-setting, gold medal victory in the 1000m event and Sunday, she will have the opportunity to add a second piece of hardware to her Milano Cortina collection when she competes in the 500m event.

Some high-speed action at the rink in Milan on Monday, as the Women’s 1,000-meter Speed Skating finals are set to take plac. Speed Skating has been part of the Winter Games’ calendar since the first-ever edition of the Winter Olympiad in 1924.
