Netflix ( NFLX 9.69%) stock tripled between 2023 and the end of 2024. With the streaming giant set to report fourth-quarter earnings on Jan. 21, investors will want to know how the business finished the year, content spending plans for 2025, and whether Netflix plans to increase prices this year.

As revealed by Omdia ’s Senior Research Director María Rua Aguete at a Content Americas panel, it surpassed 1.9 billion monthly active users globally, with 145 million in the U.S. alone. In terms of video revenues, TikTok reached $63.3 billion globally – nearly doubling YouTube’s global ad revenues of $33.3 billion.

After adding a record 18.9 million net-new subscribers in the three-month period that ended Dec. 31 (Q4 2024), Netflix now has a whopping 301.6 million customers in more than 190 countries. Growth was broad-based, with all regions seeing solid member additions, proving that Netflix is truly a global media powerhouse.

The change comes amid a moment of major success for the company, which also announced it now has more than 302 million subscribers across the globe, with 19 million of those people signing up in the last quarter. So you’ll have plenty of people to commiserate with about coughing up an extra couple of bucks for the service.

Netflix said during its latest quarterly earnings call that it plans to offer users board games and party games to keep them entertained.

The letter did not immediately outline the new pricing and, as of Tuesday evening, Netflix’s website was still showing prices set during the last increase in November 2023: $6.99 a month for standard with ads, $15.49 per month for standard, and $22.99 for premium.
