The San Carlos City Council voted unanimously on Monday evening to pass a resolution of “no confidence” in embattled San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus, a move that follows the release of a scathing 400-plus page independent audit that details allegations of corruption and misconduct, fueling growing calls for her resignation.

When Christina Corpus won voters’ support to become San Mateo County’s first Latina sheriff, she vowed to end the “pass-downs and political favors” she said dictated control of the department and carry out a reform agenda to “move our law enforcement agency to the 21st century.”

The San Carlos City Council approved a vote of no confidence on embattled San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus on Monday, and called on her to resign. Since 2010, the city has contracted with the Sheriff's Department for police services.

San Mateo County Assistant Sheriff Matthew Fox resigned Friday in the wake of calls for Sheriff Christina Corpus to step down, the deputies union confirmed.
