Apple is close to starting production of an updated iPhone SE that will serve as a new low-end model and is also aiming to manufacture new iPad Air models, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the next-gen iPhone SE, which could be called the iPhone SE 4, is expected to go on sale “early next year.” The future edition of the iPhone SE could include many improvements because the series hasn’t been updated since 2022.

Bloomberg reports that the iPhone SE 4 is coming in early 2025, complete with an edge-to-edge screen and Face ID.

The report comes from the Asian paper DigiTimes, shared by MacRumors, which claims that the new TDDI displays will start production in the second quarter of 2025. According to the report, Apple is "expected" to be one of Novatek's first customers.
