R Ashwin was thrilled with his return to the Chennai Super Kings during the IPL 2025 Auction on Sunday, November 24. Ashwin said he felt nostalgic seeing CSK fight for him during the auctions.

As Chennai Super Kings looked to add players whose skill sets are suited to conditions at the Chepauk, which is known for producing slow and low turners, the five-time champions bought India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for Rs 9.

Ashwin led Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. His tally of 25 scalps during his tenure is still the third-most for any captain in IPL history. The offie is only behind legendary leg-spinners Shane Warne (57) and Anil Kumble (30). Meanwhile, Harbhajan is the next off-spinner on this list with 11 wickets.

Ravichandran Ashwin triggered the intense bidding war between four teams as the veteran spinner found a big contract in the IPL 2025 mega auctions. Chennai Super Kings also signed back their former players Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra.
