Southern California Edison said video evidence had led it to look more broadly at whether its equipment might have been the cause of the deadly blaze.

A California utility said Thursday that its equipment likely sparked a wildfire in Los Angeles that broke out the same day as two massive blazes in the area killed at least 29 people and destroyed thousands of homes.

However, the Edison International unit has not identified evidence to confirm this, according to a filing with the California Public Utilities Commission.

Utility workers were in for a fright when they went to try to turn the gas on to this Altadena home after the Eaton Fire tore through the area. A large male black bear was hiding under the home, and he may have been there hiding as the fires were burning.
