Junior doctors, who have been protesting the rape and murder of a trainee doctor, will resume essential services starting September 21.

After West Bengal, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant assured safety and security implementations, agreeing to demands of the protesting junior doctors, the West Bengal Junior Doctors Front has now decided to call off their strike on Friday.

While pressing their new demands, the junior doctors have sought security in hospitals, the development of the healthcare system, the resignation of the state Health Secretary, among others.

Junior doctors in West Bengal will continue their strike after the second round of talks with the government ended inconclusively, lacking written assurances.
