A shooting scene is being investigated at a Walmart grocery store in Katy. After KPRC 2 first heard about the situation from a viewer who was concerned about the police presence outside of the store, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed that there was an active shooting scene at the Walmart located at 22850 Morton Ranch Road.

The sheriff initially described the incident as an “active shooter” but later said the suspect was in custody and there was no threat to the public.

The sheriff's office said the former "disgruntled" employee was escorted out of the Walmart before he fired shots at the freeway.

Deputies responded to reports of an active shooter at a Katy Walmart Monday afternoon, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
