Louisiana’s attorney general on Friday released sample posters featuring the Ten Commandments and guidance for posting them in public school classrooms, just weeks after a federal judge ruled that a state law mandating the displays is unconstitutional.

A law that requires Louisiana’s public K-12 schools, colleges and universities to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom takes effect Wednesday, and the state’s top lawyer said Monday she will soon provide guidance to aid with compliance.

A federal judge called the law “unconstitutional on its face” and “overtly religious.” Kentucky’s Republican Attorney General Russell Coleman is arguing the law should be upheld.
