Planned strikes by RMT staff on the London Underground have been called off following talks over pay between the union and Transport for London. Industrial action by the RMT was due to begin this evening.

Before suspending the strikes on Friday, RMT previously said they were prompted to take strike action after rejecting a pay deal, which they deemed as “wholly inadequate” that left a large number of staff excluded from collective bargaining, which is negotiations between employees and employers.

Planned strikes by London Underground drivers over pay have been suspended. Members of Aslef were due to walk out on Thursday and again next Tuesday - which would have crippled Tube services. The Rail,

The union has been calling for a four-day week for Tube drivers so their hours come into line with other UK operators. Strike action planned by the trade union RMT for 1 November was called off following talks over pay with TfL.
