CINCINNATI, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Terry Francona is set to end his brief retirement from baseball to become the manager of the Cincinnati Reds. Sources told ESPN, MLB.com and The Athletic about the hiring Thursday night.

Terry Francona has been hired to manage the Cincinnati Reds, returning to the major leagues a year after he stepped down in Cleveland because of health reasons.

The Chicago Cubs aren't the only team with issues around Major League Baseball. Of those teams include the Cincinnati Reds, who sit at 76-81 and in fourth place

He cited health issues when he stepped down last year and had missed time for multiple ailments during his time in Cleveland, including toe and hip surgeries. Francona had shoulder replacement surgery and double hernia surgery soon after the season last year.

Terry Francona did not stay retired for long. The former Red Sox skipper -- who brought a pair of World Series titles to Boston -- has reportedly been hired by the Cincinnati Reds to be their next manager.
