The Mahayuti alliance led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) scoring an emphatic victory, is expected to trigger a rally on the D-Street when markets resume trading on Monday. A larger mandate for the incumbent government will not only boost investor confidence but is also a testimony that people in general are happy with the economic policies and that there will be continuity,

The BJP-led NDA is likely to win Maharashtra, as well as, gain control over Jharkhand after the 2024 assembly polls, showed majority of the exit poll results on Wednesday. The official results will be declared on November 23.

The Axis My India poll projections showed the Mahayuti alliance getting 178-200 seats out of 288 seats in Maharashtra, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi getting 82-102 seats. Meanwhile, the BJP was projected to be the largest party with 92-107 seats,

The BJP effectively capitalised on the growing religious polarisation in Maharashtra. It focused on the so-called ‘vote jihad’, ‘ Batenge to Katenge ’ and ‘ Ek Hain to Safe Hain ’ rhetoric. This strategy resonated with a section of the electorate. The saffron party painted the Opposition as appeasing Muslim vote banks.

The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance has secured a decisive victory in Maharashtra. At the time of this report at about 3.45 pm, the Mahayuti was leading in 217 of the 288 assembly seats, as per the latest Election Commission data.
