Sony has pushed out a great new update to all PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers, but it's one that not all PS5 owners will be able to take advantage of. Over the course of the PS5's lifespan, Sony has continued to routinely release new firmware updates for the console that add new features and improve various aspects of the hardware.

Sony has increased the DualSense controller's price by $5 at PlayStation Direct and other retailers right around the time people are expecting a potential announcement of the PS5 Pro via a Mark Cerny-hosted Technical Presentation on September 10.

Sony seems to have quietly increased the price of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controllers. Since the release of the PS5 back in 2020, DualSense controllers have largely retailed for $69.99. This price has been tied to standard versions of the controller while occasional "Special Edition" models have been a bit more costly and have gone for $74.
