Tragedy struck at Daytona Beach last Friday, as Florida surfer Jorge Alvarado suffered fatal injuries while riding some waves. According to reports, Alvarado smashed his head on a sandbar and then got tangled with a pier support.

Alvarado was surfing the Sunglow Pier in Daytona Beach Shores when he fell off his board and hit his head on the sandbar. He was then swept under the pier by the current, where a few good Samaritans came to his rescue and pulled him out of the water.

Jorge Alvarado, who was on life support after suffering a serious injury while surfing in Daytona Beach, Florida, has passed away. Alvarado was 49 years old.
