This is a drive up waterfall, easily accessible to individuals. There is an easy paved path to the bottom of the waterfall and a higher path you can climb if desired. Very pretty. Full review by Susan K

Easy way to see a nice waterfall. A double waterfall. The huge banyan tree was cool too. Easy in and out and only a few steps to the top. Full review by Jknaj2

Actually, the pic is indeed Rainbow Falls in Hilo. It is taken from the top of the falls...you can see the water going over on the left of the tree...and the nice rainbow on the right. From the parking lot, going to the right leads to "straight-on" views of the falls...but going to the left has a short and steep walk up to the top. When deciding which of my pictures to include in my reviews, I try to add a little variety by not using the same pics as everyone else. Thanks for checking my review.
Q:
What’s the best time of day? I’ve heard early mornings are best for rainbow viewing?
A:
Yes early. Due to the pandemic, the parking lot was closed. So you have to park on the road.
Q:
Is rainbow falls close to Akaka falls? So both can be done on an excursion.
A:
Can be done as part of a day trip. I drove from Kona to Hilo and than the falls and stopped at a few other places on a day trip I think? Enjoy!!!
