This is exactly what Herodion is talking about: a huge earthwork, implemented by the will of Herod "the great" (reigning from 37 to 4BC), with the aim of regularizing the shape of a pre-existing hill… Full review by Brun066
Thanks. I don't want to drive and have not seen any tours to the location. Is it a safe taxi ride for somebody alone? Trying to decide whether to go or wait till next year. Thanks
