WEBDec 26, 2021 · macrumors 6502. I’ve been trying to use an M1 Pro Macbook Pro 16” with an HP Omen 27” monitor through a DisplayPort 1.4 to USB C cable. The monitor defaults to a refresh rate of 165 Hz. Whenever I plug it in and the setup is at this refresh rate I see vertical pink and green bars on the image.

Does the MacBook Pro M1 support DisplayPort 1.4?
WEBDec 16, 2020 · Yes, it supports 4K@60Hz with HDR with the official Apple adapter. 4K60 only requires DisplayPort 1.2, though. DisplayPort 1.4 is where you get 8K60 and all that. And... from my limited testing, I don't think the M1 MacBook Pro supports anything past 6K, so it technically does not support DisplayPort 1.4 right now.

WEBJan 10, 2024 · I went from 16" M1 Pro to 14" M3 Max. The ram, screen size and snappiness with studio display improved my use especially when editing video. There is this noticeable lag with the base M1 Pro when using MacBook screen and studio display at same time. May be ram related. My next upgrade will be 64gb ram and more ssd but maybe in 5 years.

I don't know the actual power output, but I suspect it is not more, because it would require stepping up the voltage from the base 5V to 9V or higher. (Max allowed power at 5V is 15W.)
